Eric’s Bassi Hog’s Back (54cm)
It’s always so rad to see someone progress and grow as a cyclist. It really does take time to find the riding, and the bike, you enjoy most. Watching Eric roll up with a vintage road bike, and then grabbing a vintage mtb, to finally arrive at a modern touring bike has been a great enjoyment for us. For the time being, Eric has landed here with their new Bassi Hog’s Back basket bike. This thing is a beautiful example of the functional aesthetic. This build has a lot of parts purchased here at Crows, with some Blue Lug swag sprinkled in, and a lot of the build work was done by Eric together with their friend, Tom, who’s also a great customer and friend of the shop. They’re both here every week for the #murderofcrows Social Ride and contribute a ton to the vibrant Crows community. This build rocks a lot of highly functional parts intertwined with some beautiful and elegant pieces. The drivetrain is the dependable and affordable Microshift Advent X wide range one-by, and the build is rolling on a set of Velo Orange Voyager Rims laced up to a Bitex hub in the back and a Shimano Alfine dynamo hub up front. That wheelset is a tried and true classic that we build up one a pretty regular basis. A highlight, though hard to find behind that MASSIVE Swift Industries Motherloaf bag, is the White Industries EC34, USA made headset. All in all, the bike is just the right amount of burly and just the right amount of elegant we think and as Jeremy likes to say: “It’s a beautiful bike for a beautiful person.” Thanks for working with us, Eric!
Happy pedalling!
